Bottango Solar
Bottango Solar is the all-in-one animatronic Bottango control mega board.
Packed with features, Bottango Solar is the most advanced way to animate with Bottango’s innovative animatronic software. With 10 servo headers, onboard audio hardware, standalone playback tools, and show-controller integration, Bottango Solar gives you a powerful foundation for bringing robotic projects to life.
Bottango control boards make it easier to turn your ideas into expressive, animated creations.
New orders usually ship in 1 - 2 business days.

Powerful On It's Own
Bottango Solar can do amazing work even when flying solo.
- 10 PWM servo headers
- Stereo audio playback through line-out or the included speakers with onboard amp
- MicroSD card reader for storing exported animations and audio files
- Three animation trigger buttons & dedicated stop button
- Integrated power circuit for powering servos, audio, and the board itself from one input (see documentation for power supply requirements)

Even Better Together
Bottango control boards are made to work together.
Mix and match Bottango control boards into one unified show, with each boards communicating and coordinating with the others, either wirelessly or through daisy-chained wired RS485 connections.
With easy centralized show controller features, you can keep all your Bottango control boards working together, turning separate hardware into one unified project.

Each Bottango control board fills a different role in the lineup. Bottango Solar is the most feature packed board of all.
You can learn more about Bottango Solar, and the other Bottango control boards, as well as example use cases and recommended hardware in the official documentation.
Included with Bottango Solar: Stereo speakers compatible with the onboard audio amplifier as well as mounting plate and hardware.
Required Hardware: You will need to provide your own servos, USB-C cable, MicroSD card, and DC servo power supply (6V 7A maximum).
Details on required hardware, feature guides, use case recipes and more are included in the Bottango control boards documentation.
Bottango Control Boards DocumentationBottango control boards are a great way to utilize the most powerful features of Bottango's software without needing to design and implement your own bespoke hardware. Bottango control boards are made to "just work" with Bottango's powerful animatronic and robotic software.
Bottango Solar has 10 PWM servo headers and an integrated servo power circuit. Power your Bottango Solar and servos from the same power supply (see documentation for power supply requirements).
Bottango Solar allows for easy synchronized stereo audio playback with servo movement using it's onboard audio playback hardware.
Bottango solar has a MicroSD card reader for storing audio files, and volume slider. Design audio playback into your Bottango animation files and let Bottango Solar handle the hard part.
You can play audio using:
Lineout (1/8 inch, headphone jack style) stereo audio output to an external amp.
2 × 2 W stereo amp for passive speakers. Bottango Solar even comes with speakers in the box!
Export animations to a microSD card and playback animations on Bottango Solar without a connected computer.
Three trigger buttons allow for triggering animations in standalone playback mode. The trigger buttons also have header pins to place custom buttons off board. Stop button on board as well.
Bottango control boards can create a low latency wireless access point, allowing easy and performant wireless streaming of animations between two or more control boards. Connect one control board to your computer (Bottango Nova recommended) and set Bottango Solar to connect wirelessly to it.
Combine Bottango Solar with other Bottango control boards to create a show controller set up.
Bottango control boards can communicate with each other using wireless or wired RS485 communication options.
All Bottango control boards contain functionality to allow them to work together in a show controller use case, where one Bottango control board acts as a show controller and serves out animations without a computer to all connected boards.
Need more servos? Add a Bottango Impulse to your project and connect it to Bottango Solar.
Want a dedicated show controller? Bottango Nova is optimized to fill that role.
Bottango Solar runs on open source firmware. You can change how Bottango Solar works at the code level and upload your own custom version to the board.
But no code is needed, you can use all these features out of the box without writing your own code.
ESP32 based animatronic and audio controls development board. 2.4GHz 802.11n wifi, ESP32 Xtensa 32-bit 240 MHz Microcontroller, 520kb SRAM, 4MByte Flash storage.
Four RGB status lights.
RS485 board to board communication daisy chain connectors.
Qwiic connector for easy addition of Qwiic compatible sensors, peripherals, etc.
(Note, on Bottango Solar enabling either Qwiic or RS485 wired comms option reduces the number of available servo headers, see docs for more details)
Approximately 2.5" x 5" dimensions.
